ST. MARTHA'S ALTAR GUILD
Almighty God, grant we beseech thee, that we may handle holy things with reverence, and perform our work with such faithfulness and devotion that it may rise with acceptance before thee and obtain thy blessing; through Christ our Lord.
Being a member of the Altar Guild is a privileged discipline, a service of love, and an offering of time. There are active members and associate members, i.e. women of the parish who are interested in the objectives of the Guild but are unable to give active service.
Altar Guild consists of four teams. Each team is on duty approximately every five weeks. Our objective is the reverent care of the sanctuary, font, sacred vessels and vestments, preparing them for use in the service and sacraments of the church. We are instrumental in baptisms, weddings, funerals, Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter.
The Rector is an ex-officio member of and Director of the Altar Guild.
Meetings are held in Canon Savage Hall when the Rector or members feel there is the need to discuss changes, special services are coming up or training is needed. The Rector may call special meetings.
We invite anyone who is interested in serving our Lord in this capacity to see anyone in our Altar Guild.
